First impression always counts.
Especially at an interview. This is why we have made a list of criterias that will help you leave the right impression to any interviewer, no matter how scary he may seem.
The Suit always matters
In order to make a great appearance at this kind of life changing event, you must remember that a classic look will always win the battle.
Even if you have a powerful personality which is always expressed through extravagant clothes, just this once, leave the purple velvet suit at home. The suit must say something nice about you, but not shout it out loud.
At an interview what you wear should be neutral, but classic, showing that you that you have refined tastes, are responsible and ready to take over the world. By wearing something neutral, the suit will create a quiet aura of qualities, but will let you demonstrate them verbally.
Suit Advice :
- Mat dark colors are always the best. You can't go wrong with gray , navy or black . As for the material, a natural one, like cotton will let you breath.
- Combine it with a long sleeved, collared shirt.
- The collar mustn't be to tight or loose, you should feel comfortable wearing it.
- The tie should have a simple pattern, which will help outline the suit and shirt. Darker than the shirt, of a medium wideness, it should have a simple knot. As for its length, the the end of the tie should reach the belt.
- The pants should match the jacket, worn on top of the hips. Bewteen pleated or non-pleated, our advice is to wear non-pleated ones.
- The shoes must compliment the suit. In a black or brown tone, they should be clean and polished. As for the socks, don't wear white socks, it would be best if they would match the shoe color.

Advice from experts
Stephen Vicusi, also known as America's Workplace Guru was gave some very useful advice regardind the importance of an interview appearance
“The secret to landing a job today (other than being on time), especially that first job, is distinguishing yourself from the competition, that is, from the other people interviewing for the same job.” He firmly adds that “companies don't just hire a resume nor do they usually hire based on credentials alone, and even experience is often not the make or break issue.” On the contrary, “it is a combination of each of these characteristics with intangibles, such as chemistry and those little personal things that separates you from everyone else.”

He further affirms that your chances grow when you have common hobbies and passions with the interviewer. But all cannot be enough, he continues by saying that “you can save that money that you were planning to spend following your dream employer to Africa, and instead invest in something much smaller. Maybe, just maybe, you are the first of 20 candidates interviewed (and this is especially true when it is an entry level job for someone under 30) that is wearing a wristwatch! Yes, you read that right: Stephen Viscusi says that you could win a job just by wearing a wristwatch!”

Vicusi added that, when an employer sees you check the hour or simply watching into your iphone is just a bad etiquette. So his advice is simple: “cut it out! Go buy a wristwatch!”
He even advices you to “fake it until you make it”, by purchasing one that doesn't work that well, or even at all, but you will definitely leave a good impression.

Mark Bull, CEO of recruitment consultants Randstad recommends that “standing will help you greet your interviewer from an equal perspective. Shake hands firmly, wiping away any clamminess first.”
“Opt for a slimmer watch with your interviewsuit,” recommended Timothy Barber, the editor of 00/24 WatchWorld . “And try to find one you can wear with cufflinks so that it doesn't ruin the line of your sleeve,” he continued.

The stylist Tom Stubbs believes that ”your shoes, belt and watch all coordinate by matching leather colours and metals. Flash pieces aren't advised.” because “you want to suggest financial probity, not extravagance.”
Our final tip
As a conclusion, we advise you to wear a medium priced watch. Between a stainless steel strap and a leather one, we definitely recommend leather. If it's black, it's even better. So no matter what brand you choose (it would be the best to be a brand with a long distinguished history behind), make sure you choose a classic model.
